A Sweet Goodbye

Updated: Sep 2, 2021

Today we say goodbye to Genie Joseph, our IFA President. Genie had the difficult task of guiding Independent FIlm Arizona through one of the most difficult times in modern history. She was able to continue to provide structure and purpose to IFA's members while the country remained in lockdown. As a successful filmmaker, Genie was able to share her wealth of experience with members as well to continue her own projects. It is these personal projects that now call Genie away from IFA.

Dear IFA Members & Supporters,

After three years, I am resigning as President of Independent Film Arizona. It has been a wonderful journey, and I appreciate all the support everyone has given me. We've had some great workshops, meetings, symposiums, networking, and other events. And we even thrived on Zoom during Covid-19! I have enjoyed working on many film projects with IFA folks and hope to continue to be a part of our creative community.

What’s next for me?

I am thrilled to also announce that I am Executive Director of The Human-Animal Connection, a new non-profit organization that provides free services to veterans, active duty, first responders, and health care providers. We provide therapy animal visits and train veterans to work with shy shelter dogs to help them both heal and prepare the dogs for adoption. You can learn more about our program at TheHumanAnimalConnection.org

I will be busy running this new organization, but please keep in touch with me and let me know how you progress with your creative projects. Thank you to our outgoing board members and everyone who made IFA an exciting organization! Please continue to support Elisa and the direction she has planned for IFA’s future.

Creativity Rules!

Genie Joseph

On Behalf of the entire new Independent Film Arizona Board, we would like to thank Genie for her many years of service to IFA and wish her the best of luck in her new endeavors.
